Celebrations always involve people coming together, helping one another
and having a good time. Pongal festival honours the harvest and expresses
gratitude to nature. SKIMT organized pongal celebrations in the Campus to make
the students experience and appreciate the rich cultural heritage associated with
it.
The institution was adorned with vibrant colors and traditional
decorations, creating a festive atmosphere. Students cooked Pongal in the
traditional way using fire wood. Competitions such as Rangoli and Digital
Greetings Card were conducted among the students to commemorate the
auspicious day. In addition to the celebrations, SKIMT also arranged for the
students to undertake a service initiative of visiting SIBIYO children’s home at
Vembakottai and spend their time with the 56 inmates over there. Faculty
members and Students of SKIMT offered Pongal, Lunch, Stationary items like Pen,
Pencils, Rulers, Crayons and Water Colour kits and lot of snacks and refreshments
to the inmates. Games were conducted for the inmates and students also
arranged for Cake cutting by the children. The service activity made the students
to realize that volunteering our time, money, or energy to help others doesn't just
make the world better—it also make us better as it boosts our happiness, health,
and sense of well-being.
