Industrial visits are organized to narrow the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by engaging the students in firsthand experiences and make them realize the intricacies of various business operations and processes conducted in a business organisation.
As a part of interactive learning and to give practical perspective to the theoretical concepts relevant to their domain, on 16 th October 2024, SKIMT organised Field Trip for the students of Marketing and Retail Management Specialisation to Mega Retail Formats such as D Mart, Decathlon, Vishal De Mall and Reliance Smart in Madurai which provided them an insight and feel of the reality.
On 17 th October 2024, Students of Export Import Management – Specialisation visited Kaliswari Metal Powder Company and gained firsthand information about the Export – Import Procedures and the Documentation involved.
On 19 th October 2024, to introduce the students to the idea of Start-ups, the students were taken on a visit to VRD Best Foods (P) Ltd, Madurai (100% export oriented start up unit). VRD Best Foods Pvt Ltd exports various processed vegetables, mainly Gherkins, Jalapenos, Baby Corn, Sweet Corn, Capsicum, Carrot, Celery etc. The company is reputed for its quality supply and for on-time shipment of customer orders. The company supplies to various countries across the globe. The students visited their facility in Thirumangalam, Madurai and interacted with the Founder Directors of the enterprise Mr. Dharmendra Mohan Prabu and Ms. Subhasini Sowdambiga. They narrated their start up journey and the hurdles they overcome. The students gained the knowledge on the business model of the startup and the motivation needed for taking up the entrepreneurial journey.
In addition to fun filled learning, the visits of these nature help the students to identify and decide their future career as well as facilitate them in acquiring networking opportunities for their internships and projects which in turn enhances the student’s employability.
